Miguel A. Betancourt II, Pastor
Pastor Mike holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bob Jones University and has been on staff here at Ferndale Baptist since 1992. He and his wife, Leeann, were married in May 1986 at Heritage Bible in Greenville (now located in Greer, SC) where they also were actively serving in the youth ministry there. Leeann also holds undergrad and graduate degrees from BJU in Education and serves as the church secretary. She is heavily involved in other ministries of the church as well.
After leaving Greenville in October 1990, they moved to the Atlanta area with their daughter Katie to serve in the ministry there. In September of 1992 the three of them moved to North Charleston, SC where Pastor Mike served as the youth/assistant pastor at Ferndale Baptist. God blessed Pastor Mike and Leeann with the expansion of their family when both of their sons, Mike and Timmy were born in North Charleston (1992 and 1996, respectively).
On July 30, 2008, Pastor Mike accepted the church’s call to serve as its seventh pastor and is thankful for the opportunity to serve the congregation. The church is currently making plans to relocate the ministry to a new section of Hanahan on an ideal piece of property that is owned debt free.
Their daughter Katie graduated from Bob Jones University with her Master's degree in Education in May 2014. A week later she married Matt Ashley and in June relocated to Indianapolis where they have been hired to teach on the faculty of a Christian School that is a ministry of Colonial Hills Baptist. Katie's brother Mike is a rising Senior Bible major at Bob Jones University and is preparing for the ministry. Tim graduated from high school in May and is planning to attend BJU in the Fall where he will begin preparing for the ministry.
