Awana
Grand Prix
Our annual Awana Grand Prix was held on April 13, 2002
in our gymnasium. In addition to plenty of creative designs, there were
also some lightning fast cars, which led to stiff competition on the track.
With the addition of our new timing mechanism, some heats were literal
photo finishes with identical times down to the hundredths of a second.
Here are some pictures of the day's activities.(Click

| Reverend Bill Davis, pastor of Blessed Hope Baptist
Church in Ladson, gave a short devotion prior to the races, inviting
everyone to "qualify" for the race of life by accepting Jesus Christ
as their Savior. |

Several people worked very hard to make
this day possible for our Awana kids. |

| Our Awana Grand Prix race track was running fast,
clocking times as fast as 3.38 seconds. The new timing mechanism made
for some interesting situations, as there were several dead heats.
And people thought "The Monster" at Darlington was bad...they ought
to see this track. |

There were lots of creative designs, including a
wedge of cheese, candy bars, pencils, a carrot, and even an aircraft
carrier. |

The Lynch family swept the day, with
Jon winning the overall fastest for the clubbers, and Richard, Cindy
and Jennifer sweeping the open division. Richard had some explaining
to do when he got home, however, since he defeated his wife for first
place in the final heat. |

| Here is a group photo of all the participants. It
was a wonderful day of fellowship, with everyone being a "winner". |
