Church News
Check back from time to time as we post news of interest
regarding various ministries of Ferndale Baptist. Information about our
church is below.
- In August 2009, our church voted to hire
Teamway Builders to be our
general contractor/project manager. We are currently working on ministry
design in order to assist an architect with our master planning and facility
design. We have met with a prospective architect already and are reviewing his proposal.
- FBC has purchased new property in Hanahan, SC! We have 7.499 acres of beautiful land in the
Tanner Plantation area on Foster Creek Road on which we look forward to building a new worship
and educational facilities. Our location will be an ideal one in the midst of a new, emerging
community that is growing rapidly! We are excited about our future relocation and look forward
to see how God blesses this endeavor. Our new ministry name will be Foster Creek Baptist Church.
- We are in our fourth year of Kids 4 Truth! To learn more about this rapidly growing children's ministry click
here!
- On July 30, 2008, our youth pastor, Mike Betancourt, accepted
the church's call to be our next pastor! Mike and his family have been serving with us since
their arrival to North Charleston in 1992.
- FBC celebrated its 60th
anniversary in 2004. We enjoyed dinner on the grounds (in our newly air
conditioned gymnasium) and a testimony service afterwards. Click here
to view pictures of the last sixty years.
- On April 10, 2004, Dr. Robert Besancon went home to
be with his Lord. Recently retired in June of 2002, he was greatly loved
by all. Click here for more infomation.
- Dr. Tom Wheeler accepts the call to be Ferndale's sixth pastor and begins August, 2003.
- In recognition of Dr. Bob and Mrs. B's 34 years of
ministry, the city of North Charleston declared September 12, 2002 to
be "Dr. Bob and Gladys Besancon Day".
- Our pastor retired on June 10, 2002 after 34 years
here at Ferndale and 54 years in the ministry. We love you, Dr. Bob!
He was given the title Pastor Emeritus at his retirement celebration
on June 30, 2002. Click here to read
his famous sermon on "The Prodigal
Son".
